BOGOTÁ PET PHOTOGRAPHY

Bogotá, the capital city of Colombia, is a vibrant metropolis located in the heart of the Andes Mountains in South America. The city has a deep appreciation for animals, with many charming cafes, dog parks and lively outdoor markets all welcoming pets valued members of the community.

In 2023, Carlos Cruz joined professional photographers around the globe to make a difference for pets in need with 'Tails of the World'. This unique collaborative project celebrates dogs with an annual coffee table book and our latest volume has raised over $65,000 for animal rescue!

Carlos raised US$1264 for Fundacion Animalove with ten pet photoshoots around Bogotá. He photographed dogs both near their homes and also at favourite parks like Parque Virrey and Simon Bolivar.

Ariel

Ariel loves cookies; she is incredibly sweet and affectionate. Going for car rides to the mall is her favorite thing to do. She truly believes she's a person, which is why she prefers not to share with other dogs. She's the darling of the house, and she adores having bows 🎀 put on her. When she's freshly groomed, she's eager to go out for a walk and show off. Massages are her absolute favorite.

Luna

Seven years ago, an adoption foundation came to the park, and she was the last one left after the adoption event. Fito saw her and immediately started playing with her, and they became inseparable. She is the most spoiled one in the family and also the flirtiest. Anyone who crosses her path ends up with lots of kisses and belly rubs.

Fito

In May 2014, we received a 3-month-old puppy as a foster for 10 days... that was more than 9 years ago, and we couldn't let him go. Ever since we told him he would be part of our family, he has been the most well-behaved little dog. He has never caused any damage inside the house, loves cuddling, and as the older brother, he is the most generous with Luna and Polen. People who know him say he is a true gentleman.

Polen

He came during the pandemic to complete the pack. With only three legs, he runs like a rabbit, playful, and despite his size, he's the alpha at home. He can impose his will with a tender look that melts us. Although they say he's around 6 years old, he looks like a little puppy.

Kimmy and Paris

Meet Kimmy, 5 years old, a playful Pincher who loves to eat anything and everything. Her favorite toys are the ones that squeak, and she plays with them until she removes the squeaky part. Kimmy enjoys licking the eyes and ears of her furry siblings and snuggling under the blankets with her human parents at night.

Now, let's talk about Paris, a 9-year-old mixed-breed dog. Paris adores being by her human mom's side and follows her everywhere. She craves constant pampering and now finds joy in being close to her 7-month-old human sister.

Luna and Dante

Initially distrustful after her experiences living on the streets, 10 year old Luna is now a spoiled, loyal dog. She loves playing fetch and running with younger dogs.

Her brother Dante is a 9 year old Samoyedo. Sometimes lazy, sometimes playful, Dante is always adorable!

Lulú

Lulú, 3 years old, is a mixed-breed dog who loves to run endlessly and play in the park with other dogs. She has a sweet and very noble personality, being gentle with both children and other dogs. However, she is a bit fearful of adults and loud sounds.

Tomás

Tomás, 9 years old, is a mixed-breed dog, a cross between a Criollo and a French Poodle. He enjoys playing with Lulú and prefers to bask in the sun and rest at the park. He is gentle with children and calm around other dogs. He loves to be pampered and showered with affection.

Aurelio-José

Aurelio-José is a 100% Colombian criollo (mutt!). He must be between 7 to 8 years old but we are not sure since he was rescued by Colombian shelter Fundacion Animalove in 2018. When he was rescued from a farm in the outskirts of the capital Bogotá , he had been completely neglected. He looked like a black mop and had difficulties breathing. He was scared of men, uniforms and anything that looked like a broomstick. He was also lethargic and had difficulties eating which was later diagnosed as Addison disease. My husband and I were originally a foster home as he needed regular medicated baths for his skin problems and special medication for Addisons. But we failed. We fell in love and adopted him. He is so special. He is our best companion and kept us sane during the COVID lockdown. He likes to be cuddled, and barely barks. At first he didn’t like to leave the apartment but now the moment he sees me putting on a jacket he dances around me. We live in Bogotá , Colombia and have our routines for daily walks by visiting the pharmacy, the bakery and his girlfriend Blanquita. We always finish our walk at the pebble garden that is located in the common area of our building. A Japanese Zen space that goes very well with Aurelio’s personality. Aurelio José is the most wonderful dog we could have wished for. He forgave the cruelty of humankind and was prepared to trust people again. Aurelio José is pure love and wisdom.

Tekila

Meet Tekila: a mixed-breed, 11 years old, she is a calm, composed, and obedient furry friend who loves to be by our side. She enjoys being cuddled and always seeks our company.

Hi, I'm Carlos Cruz, a dog photographer based in Colombia - South America. My love for dogs led me to combine it with my passion for photography, and I founded La Fotoperreria. I specialize in capturing outdoor shots of dogs. Through my work, I strive to connect with dogs and their owners on a deeper level and capture their essence in a single photograph. Additionally, I've developed a comprehensive course on photographing dogs to share my passion and knowledge with others.
